Earl’s Court Elegance: My piece about British artist Duggie Fields’ 50 years at his amazing abode in apartamento #21
The new issue of international interiors magazine apartamento includes my feature about British artist Duggie Fields and his extraordinary mansion flat in inner west London neighbourhood Earl’s Court.
With photographs by Angelo Pennetta, my piece demonstrates how Fields – who moved into the apartment in the autumn of 1968 with his friend, the late Pink Floyd genius Syd Barrett – has over the decades created an environment which combines home, studio and installation.
By a happy coincidence, issue 21 of apartamento arrives as Glasgow’s The Modern Institute stages a Fields retrospective which includes a recreation of the interiors of his flat complete with cut-outs of Fields and his parents.
Duggie Fields is at The Modern Institute until May 25. Details here.
Copies of apartamento are available from all good magazine sellers and direct here.
