Letter from Ian Dury to Roberta Bayley

Ian Dury sent this letter to Roberta Bayley in May 1977.

As the late songsmith’s biographer Will Birch explains here, Dury was just a few months away from achieving nationwide fame.

Paul,
just read Ian’s letter to Roberta. The drum kit he nicked from Ladbroke Grove was from the flat below mine off Westbourne Park. The tenant had done a runner and left this lovely little Trixon drum kit, so we spirited it away in a taxi and Ian ended up using it on the Reckless Eric album and also on the first Stiff Tour when he played drums with Eric.
