Curating: The Past, The Present & The Possible at Les Subsistances, Chaumont, May 26 – June 10
Here are some images from The Past, The Present & The Possible, the exhibition I have curated with Sophie Demay and Étienne Hervy as part of their group show White Noise at the International Poster + Graphics Festival currently taking place in Chaumont, France.
The Bubbles component is comprised entirely of finished artwork, as a counterpoint to my 2010 show Process, which focused on the late graphic artist’s preparatory techniques and working practices.
At Les Subsistances gallery in Chaumont, there are nearly 300 Bubbles designs on display, from 2″ diameter stickers to 6ft x 4ft posters and, of course, many record sleeves, adverts, books, magazines and ephemeral pieces.
Within the show there are dedicated areas: one for the promo videos Bubbles directed – these are playing on monitors fitted with headphones; another for Kate Moross’ triptych video installation, which resulted from our collaboration at Glastonbury last year and is housed in a specially built cubicle; and a record deck platform where visitors may request vinyl single and album tracks.
Images of the rest of White Noise and the festival can be found here and here.
In this clip, Étienne Hervy – who is the festival director – provides an overview of the whole range of exhibits and activities at this year’s event:
