This week sees the opening of the second of London gallery Richard Saltoun’s two-part exhibition of Viennese art: Feminism presents the work of VALIE EXPORT and Friedl Kubelka.
Feminism – which follows on the heels of the gallery’s presentation of the Viennese Actionists – shows the ways in which both artists explore gender, the body and politics.
Included in the show are such important works as EXPORT’s self-portrait Smart/Export II and Kubelka’s series Pin-Ups 1971-1974.
On Thursday (April 10) Richard Saltoun is hosting an evening of Kubelka’s films from 1968 to the present day. The artist, Friedl vom Gröller, went on a hiatus from film-making after her marriage to Peter Kubelka, and returned to it after their divorce. She is introducing and curating the film evening.
