Pierre Molinier, “the man and the painter, the genius and the pervert, the ‘lesbienne’ and the guns lover” is not an easy figure to pin down.
As Richard Saltoun Gallery – which is holding an exhibition of Molinier’s work opening tomorrow – points out: “Existing on the margins of conventional society, he lived a life defined by excess and hedonism.”
The Temptations Of Pierre Molinier presents more than 50 of Molinier’s bizarre and magical photographs, drawings and paintings, dating from 1952 to his suicide by gunshot in 1976.
