October 17: A right turn-out for Pop! with John Dove + Molly White, Antony Price + Tommy Roberts
On October 17 I’m hosting the opening session of the Pop! Design Study Day at London’s Fashion & Textile Museum.
The event is part of the FTM’s Pop! Design Culture Fashion exhibition and I’ll be kicking off proceedings in conversation with John Dove & Molly White, Antony Price and Tommy Roberts.
I have form with all of them, having I worked with John and Molly on reviving select Wonder Workshop t-shirt designs in 2008. Subsequently we collaborated on a limited edition Wild Thing top via my label The Look Presents (as worn by the likes of Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols).
Just last week they closed their sell-out print exhibition at Paul Stolper Gallery, for whom they have created a Wild Thing 2012 – these are available here.
I dedicated a chapter to Antony’s activities in my book The Look and subsequently worked with him on the menswear label Priceless, which was launched at the most 70s of glam-spots, Tramp.
Tommy is the subject of my latest book Mr Freedom, which features contributions from others participating in the study day such as designer Pamla Motown, hairstylist Keith Wainwright, artist/interiors designer Jon Wealleans and the unpindownable Justin de Villeneuve.
Also lining up on October 17 are artist Andrew Logan, commentator Peter York, textiles goddesses Natalie Gibson and Sue Timney and the V&A’s Glenn Adamson.
As Tommy might say, it looks like being a right turn-out.
Tickets for the study day are available from info@ftmlondon.org. Find out more about Pop! Design Culture Fashion here.
