I like a bit of a cavort: Street Tuff
This compilation of scenes from 1989 raves is proof positive of the nutso-bongo atmosphere of such events, and that tracks such as Street Tuff still prompt a shake of the leg (and other limbs).
Acid sparked a great coming together of all sorts, shapes and silhouettes, as this fab film demonstrates.
Hipsters will probably argue that this marks the period when it all went commercial, etc – but who wants to be hip when you can cavort like this?
For my money 1989 was one of the great years for pop music, when the charts where powered by the energy on display here.
Once you’ve exhausted yourself, flop down with the definitive account of the era (and the funniest book I have read on youth cult behaviour + mores): Jane Bussman’s Once In A Lifetime.
