Andy Warhol’s Heat: Days Of Steam
The piece underscoring this trailer for the Andy Warhol/Paul Morrissey 1972 production Heat is John Cale’s Days Of Steam, from his album The Academy In Peril.
This collection of orchestral/piano works – as well as the piss-taking Legs Larry At Television Centre (as chosen by Johnny Rotten for A Punk & His Music in 1977 – was released the same year by Reprise, which employed Cale as a&r consultant/producer.
Try and get hold of the vinyl version housed in the Warhol sleeve, which opens to reveal die-cut apertures around the Kodachrome “slides”.
