Ace: “Purveyor of funky elegance”

Peter Golding has very kindly supplied this shot of the facade of his glam Chelsea shop Ace, which ran for a decade from 1975 (for the first couple of years from 185 King’s Road) as a “purveyor of funky elegance” to well-heeled celebrities and pop and rock stars.

Andrew Logan created the large flower sculpture which adorned the exterior of the premises at 193 King’s Road and the lightning flash (in his trademark broken mirrored glass) which decorated the branch of Ace in South Molton Street in London’s West End.

These days Golding –   who performs blues and gypsy jazz regularly – contributes pieces from his vast collection of rock & roll memorabilia and ephemera to exhibitions and museums.  Find out more about him here.
