If I Was Your Girlfriend: A Jam – companion newspaper about Prince’s life, work and legacy is a funky delight
Arriving in a kinky sealed purple polythene envelope, If I Was Your Girlfriend: A Jam is the new publication which has been issued as a companion piece to last spring’s exhibition at London’s leading edge art space Belmacz.
Like the show, the newspaper celebrates the life, work and legacy of Prince Rogers Nelson, with contributions from a range of interested (and interesting) parties, including academic Rebecca Arnold, artists Magdalena Drwiega, Paul Housley, Paul Kindersley and Joel Tomlin, writer Michael Bracewell and singer-songwriter/performer/DJ Jarvis Cocker.
I also made a contribution to the show and publication, in the form of an email to Belmacz prime mover Julia Muggenburg reminiscing about near-misses with Prince and pondering his irreplaceability.
Conceived by Muggenburg and designed by Craig Sinnoman, If I Was Your Girlfriend: A Jam is – fittingly, given its subject – a funky delight.
