Interspersed with a personal selection of songs, I talked to DJ Gary Crowley about the new Punk London: In The City 1975-78 map for the second hour of his Punk & New Wave show on Soho Radio yesterday.

Referring to me as “Mr Writey-Talkey” (after writer Peter York’s description of me last year), Gary proved a warm, knowledgeable and enthusiastic host.

He also talked about one of his favourite addresses from the period, 93 Bell Street, where he spied members of the Sex Pistols on his way to and from school in 1977.

Fist Impressions - 2

//As listed in Punk London: In The City 1975-78//

We had fun; it was great to hear some of my scratchy vinyl (largely from the pre-punk era) blasting out.

These are the songs we played:

Under My Wheels – Alice Cooper (from the 1971 Warner album Killer)

Brainstorm – Hawkwind (Doremi Fasol Latido, UA Records, 1972)

Here Come The Warm Jets – Brian Eno (LP title track, Island Records, 1974)

Teenage Head – The Snakes (single, Dynamite, 1976)

Brand New Cadillac – Vince Taylor & The Playboys (reissue single, Chiswick Records, 1976)

My Flamingo – The Subterraneans (single, Demon Records, 1980)

Listen to the show here (I’m on for the second hour).
