Another exclusive! Sneak peek inside Malcolm McLaren’s 1975/6 notebook at Be Reasonable Demand The Impossible
Among the exciting exclusives at tomorrow’s event Be Reasonable Demand The Impossible will be a presentation providing a fascinating look inside Malcolm McLaren’s 1975/6 notebook, kept at the time when the Sex Pistols were starting out and he was running the boutique Sex at 430 King’s Road with partner Vivienne Westwood.
Sex Pistols authority Paul Burgess is presenting pages from the notebook which show McLaren drafting Pistols press releases, working through ideas for band names and line-ups (including Chrissie Hynde, Johnny Thunders and Richard Hell) as well as notes for letters to promoters, addresses for contacts in the media and even details of various suppliers of traditional clothing from rainwear to school uniforms.
Burgess, head of illustration at the University Of Brighton, is currently working on a publishing project regarding the notebook with the backing of the Malcolm McLaren Estate.
