Weld: Beguiling Brian Griffin considers fashion + feminism in Disegno

Photographer Brian Griffin rarely fails to beguile, as evinced by these portraits from a series produced with stylist Emma Clifton for architectural/design/fashion magazine Disegno earlier this year.
In the last issue – No. 8 – Disegno commissioned author/cultural critic Elizabeth Wilson to assess the connections between fashion and feminism. Her essay espouses the belief that feminism in fashion – as in all areas of life – has “ceased be a political enterprise and become another spectacle”.

Griffin was given free reign to visually interpret the relationship between fashion and feminism and worked with Clifton on this series of monochromatic portraits he entitled ‘Weld’. This featured model Arlette Ess with a selection from S/S 15 collections.
