Magazines: Pallant House 28 – Art From The Margins
The new quarterly magazine from Pallant House is up to the excellent standards set by one of the UK’s finest galleries.
Celebrating the return of the triennial Outside In, a national competition and exhibition for non-traditional artists such as the learning-disabled, Issue 28 also includes pieces on “the father of Art Brut” Jean Dubuffet, the late Pat Douthwaite and contemporary artist Bobby Baker, insights into the comparisons and contrasts between Gwen John and another contemporary artist, Celia Paul, from the Archbishop Of Canterbury (and Paul’s brother-in-law) Rowan Williams and an interview with the gallery’s departing director Stefan van Raay by author Kate Mosse.
And Jason Hedges’ shot of me with Derek Boshier from the opening of the summer show Peter Blake & Pop Music appears on the magazine’s photo page. What more could one ask for?
The Art From The Margins season – which features exhibitions of work by Dubuffet, Douthwaite and the Outside In artists – opened last Saturday (October 20). Details here.
